Here’s a holiday gift you really don’t want: more lane closures on the Dolphin
Thanksgiving is over, the leftovers are running low and the shopping binge is winding down. As the work week creeps closer, the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority has just the thing to jolt you back into your work routine.
Ramp closures. Street closures. Lane closures.
The gifts that keep on giving that you wish would go away.
This new batch of closures will affect the Dolphin Expressway Dec. 2-8. With few exceptions, most of the closures will take place overnight, some starting as early as 9 p.m. and ending as late as 5:30 a.m.
Dolphin Expressway, SR 836
The Dolphin Expressway will experience 11 ramp closures and five full street closures. This is all being done as the expressway is reconstructed, adding a new lane in the most congested areas and making room for a future express bus service.
Ramp Closures
The 11 ramp closures will take place from Dec. 2 through Dec. 6 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Here’s where the closures are:
▪ Eastbound SR 836 exit ramp to Northwest 57th Avenue
▪ Entrance ramp to westbound SR 836 from Northwest 45th Avenue
▪ Entrance ramps to eastbound SR 836 from northbound and southbound LeJeune Road
▪ Eastbound SR 836 exit ramps to MIA/northbound and southbound Northwest 42nd Avenue/LeJeune Road
▪ Entrance ramp to westbound SR 836 from northbound Northwest 42nd Avenue/LeJeune Road
▪ Westbound SR 836 exit ramp to Northwest 37th Avenue
▪ Entrance ramps to westbound SR 836 from northbound and southbound Northwest 27th Avenue
▪ Eastbound SR 836 exit ramp to Northwest 27th Avenue
▪ Westbound SR 836 exit ramp to Northwest 12th Street/Northwest 84th Avenue
▪ Entrance ramp to eastbound SR 836 and SR 826/Palmetto Expressway from northbound and southbound Northwest 87th Avenue
▪ Eastbound SR 836 exit ramp to Milam Dairy Road
Complete Street Closures
The five complete street closures will be Dec. 2-6 at various times:
▪ From 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, there will be a complete closure of all lanes on eastbound and westbound Northwest 12th Street between Northwest 87th Avenue and Northwest 84th Avenue; between Northwest 84th Avenue and Northwest 82nd Avenue; and Northwest 82nd Avenue and Northwest 78th Avenue
▪ From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, there will be a complete closure of all lanes on Northwest 29th Avenue between Northwest 14th Street and Northwest 13th Street.
▪ From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, there will be a complete closure of all lanes on eastbound and westbound Northwest 11th Street between Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 23rd Avenue.
▪ From 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, there will be a complete closure of all lanes on Northwest 45th Avenue between Northwest 12th Drive and Northwest Ninth Street.
▪ Only on Dec. 2 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a complete closure on northbound and southbound Northwest 22nd Avenue between Northwest 11th Street and Northwest Ninth Street.
