Crash on Turnpike in Kendall involving tanker leaves two dead, traffic a mess
A crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Kendall Friday night left two motorists dead at the scene and traffic at a standstill.
The multi-vehicle crash, which involved a tanker truck, occurred in the southbound lanes near Exit 20, Kendall Drive. All lanes were blocked.
Also blocked was the on-ramp at Kendall Drive (Southwest 88th Street). The accident was reported by the Florida Department of Transportation’s 511 service between 8 and 9 p.m.
Rescue vehicles responded as well as Florida Highway Patrol units. The crash was being treated as a hazmat scene, due to the involvement of the tanker.
WSVN reported that at least eight people were hurt, with six taken to hospitals, two of them in critical condition.
