A memorial is planned at 1 p.m. Friday for John and Melissa Stevens, who were killed in a random act of gruesome violence on Monday. The memorial will be at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.

The Tequesta couple were relaxing in their garage, as was their habit, when Martin County Sheriff’s deputies said 19-year-old Austin Harrouff entered and killed them. A neighbor tried to intervene, and he was also stabbed. On Thursday he was released from the hospital and is home with his family.

The surveillance video from Duffy’s, the sports bar Harrouff stormed out of before he made his way down the street to the Stevens’ home, will be released Friday morning, said Trisha Kukuvka, spokeswoman for the sheriff.

Harrouff is still hospitalized under armed guard. He is sedated by way of a breathing tube.
