Florida’s IMG Academy has added a new sports program. ‘More opportunities’
IMG Academy in Florida is adding a sports program and a facility to its Bradenton campus.
The private sports academy in Bradenton broke ground last Thursday on a 9,345-square-foot Aquatic Center, featuring a 10-lane, 54-by-25-meter pool that is larger than an Olympic swimming pool.
In addition to the groundbreaking, IMG launched its swimming program. It’s the 12th program for IMG Academy. The school added wrestling and boys volleyball programs earlier this year.
“Our focus is on fostering the growth of every student-athlete, athletically, academically and personally,” IMG Academy vice president of athletics Brian Nash said in a statement. “By expanding programs in wrestling, volleyball, softball and now swimming, we are creating more opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills, push their limits and reach their fullest potential.”
Construction is expected to start Dec. 1, with the facility opening March 2027.
In the meantime, IMG is searching for a swimming director.

The Aquatic Center will be home to the IMG Academy swimming program, “but also become a premier top-tier training destination,” the news release said.
The Aquatic Center will host meets, camps and community programs. According to IMG’s website, the swimming camps will begin in summer 2027 and the boarding school program will launch in fall 2027.
“This expansion represents a one-of-one opportunity to enhance our unrivaled student-athlete experience only found at IMG Academy,” said Mike Milliron, IMG Academy chief operating officer, in a news release. “The addition of our Aquatic Center and swimming program not only addresses the growing demand for aquatic sports but also strengthens our commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.”
