A man with romance on his mind ended up in a Florida jail after he called 911 to report being ripped off while paying cash for sex, according to investigators.

Prostitution is illegal in Florida and so is using 911 to complain about said service.

The unusual call came shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, June 8, from Oz Gentlemen’s Club in Clearwater, about a 20-mile drive west from downtown Tampa, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office wrote in an affidavit.

“The defendant advised ... that he paid an employee at the location $300 for ‘sex.’ However, he did not receive said services,” the affidavit reports.

“Staff at the location advised that the defendant obtained a private room and requested sex from a staff member. When denied said acts, the defendant called 911 for assistance.”

The 21-year-old man reported that security staff “took” the money from him, the report states.

He appeared to be intoxicated “as he slurred his words while speaking and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from his body,” officials reported.

The suspect was arrested at the club and charged with misuse of the 911 system, the sheriff’s office said. The offense is a misdemeanor and includes false alarm and false information 911 calls. Bond was set at $500.

Investigators say the man lives in Miramar, a Miami suburb, records show.
