Man shoots and kills parents, calls it a ‘righteous kill,’ Florida police say
A Florida man was arrested after authorities say he admitted to killing his parents.
On June 6, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Largo after someone called and asked for a welfare check for an employee who didn’t show up to work, according to a news release.
Around 12:30 p.m., deputies went to the home and found 53-year-old Elizabeth Lee Kirchner and 64-year-old Steven Eric Kirchner dead with gunshot wounds, deputies said.
Investigators learned the couple’s son, 37-year-old Nicholas Steven Kirchner, took off from the home before deputies arrived.
Attorney information for Nicholas Steven Kirchner was not available.
Detectives then got a call from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina about a separate incident Nicholas Steven Kirchner was accused of being involved in.
During that incident, he stated “I’ve already killed two people — I’ll kill some more,” according to the release.
Nicholas Steven Kirchner took off again but was caught in Georgia by the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.
He then “admitted several times” to killing his parents and said it was a “righteous kill,” the release said.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Largo is about a 25-mile drive west from downtown Tampa.
