16 people hospitalized after two airboats collide in the Everglades, authorities say

Two airboats hauling more than 30 people combined smashed into each other Friday afternoon in the Everglades, hospitalizing 16 people, authorities said.

Around 3:15 p.m., the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was alerted to the crash in Collier County near Ochopee, an FWC spokesperson said.

Two airboats, one with 20 people aboard and another with 13, collided. The cause of the crash has not yet been released.
