A spunky senior dog with a “knack for escaping backyards” needs a new home — with a fence.

“Despite her diva tendencies, Roxy’s heart is as big as her appetite for treats and attention,” a Florida animal rescue wrote Nov. 20 in a Facebook post. “She absolutely adores affection and will stand for hours on end if it means you’re paying attention to her! She may be a little picky about her meds (who likes pill pockets anyway?), but with her stubborn determination, she’s sure to charm her way into your heart.”

The Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue said 12-year-old Roxy has been waiting for a new owner since she was transferred from a Tallahassee shelter in March. She had been surrendered due to neglect and financial strains.

“Roxy’s had her fair share of dental drama,” the rescue wrote. “She came to us with severely rotten, infected teeth.”

Roxy received the dental care she needed and has become known for forgetting she’s no longer a puppy. She’s described as a “diva who has more sass and spunk than most pups half her age!”

“Someone needs to tell Roxy she’s 12,” Katie King, vice president of the rescue, told McClatchy News in an email. “She’s still a spitfire.”

Roxy also has a “knack for escaping backyards faster than Houdini himself,” so her next home will need a fence.

“She was able to dig out of a small gap in the fencing in her foster dad’s backyard and go on a three-mile walkabout the first weekend we got her,” King wrote. “Since he fixed the hole, she’s been fine. But she’s smart and she’s still got a lot of energy for her age!”

As of Nov. 22, the rescue’s website still listed Roxy among the pups available for adoption. Details about the rescue’s adoption process can be found at nwflgdr.com.

“If you’re ready to add a touch of royalty to your life and embrace the hilarity that comes with living with a diva queen, Roxy has got plenty of life left to rule over your dominion (also known as couch) with fabulous flair,” rescuers wrote.
