Three-legged cat up for adoption is so annoyed with shelter life. ‘Isn’t his vibe’
A three-legged cat is fed up with his life at a Florida shelter — and he needs a second chance.
“Loki is 2 years old, has three legs, and has zero interest in shelter life... or us,” the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Brevard wrote Nov. 6 in a Facebook post. “He’s made it clear that the shelter isn’t his vibe and he’s not here to make friends.”
Loki is described as a “more reserved and independent soul” who hides when shelter workers are around. He also can’t stand snuggling.
“If you’re looking for a needy, cuddly cat, keep scrolling,” the shelter wrote. “But if you want a cat who will thrive in a home where he can quietly judge your every move... uh we mean, keep you humble! Loki’s your guy.”
Loki waits for a new owner after he first landed at the shelter as a stray in 2022. At the time, he had a broken leg that had to be amputated, Shelby Montgomery, public relations and community engagement coordinator for the SPCA of Brevard, told McClatchy News in an email.
“Loki was adopted in November 2022 but was returned to us in June due to ongoing issues with urinating outside the litter box, despite the family’s best efforts, including vet visits,” Montgomery wrote.
Upon his return, Loki has shown off his “grumpy face” as he gets annoyed with shelter workers. But he softens a bit around other cats, basking in opportunities to play with them.
“We believe Loki’s behavior is a response to the stress of shelter life and he would do so much better in a home where he can decompress and be his true self,” Montgomery said.
As of Nov. 8, the shelter’s website listed Loki among the cats available for adoption at its facility in Titusville, a roughly 40-mile drive east from Orlando. Details about its adoption process can be found at spcabrevard.com.
