A mom deliberately started a fire that killed her 9-month-old and injured her other child, Florida authorities said.

The 26-year-old woman is now charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Nov. 5.

McClatchy News isn’t naming the mom to avoid identifying her surviving child.

The woman is accused of “intentionally” starting a fire at about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at a home in Orlando while both of her children were there.

The mom and kids were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and one of her children was discharged not long after, deputies said.

The mom was still in the hospital when she was charged Nov. 5, law enforcement said.

Investigators didn’t share a motive for the fire.
