A lottery player won a life-changing prize with a ticket sold at a Florida gas station.

The lucky winner is Richard Hawkins, who landed a $2 million jackpot prize at a Marathon gas station in Lakeland, the Florida Lottery said Oct. 25.

Hawkins turned a $10 Triple 777 scratch-off ticket into a much bigger windfall, landing the seventh top prize in the game, which debuted in February with eight prizes of $2 million each, according to lottery records.

When he visited lottery headquarters in Tallahassee to claim his winnings, he chose a one-time payout of $1,280,000, officials said.

Players face 1-in-2,692,215 odds of winning a jackpot in the game.

The gas station at 2045 Ariana Street in Lakeland received a $4,000 bonus for selling the ticket, according to the Florida Lottery.

Lakeland is in Polk County, about a 35-mile drive east from Tampa.
