Guy Fieri is in empty nester mode.

Like many parents all over the country, the celebrity chef and his wife Lori moved his son Ryder, 18, into college over the weekend.

The 56-year-old restaurateur posted a real time video of the family hauling the teen’s stuff into the dorm at San Diego State University. The clip, sped up, shows the arduous process of unpacking boxes and organizing his room.

“It hasn’t fully hit us yet,” wrote the Food Network star, “but not seeing him every day is gonna be hard.”

Serendipity? Kismet? Fieri reports that the incoming freshman has a “cool roommate” with the same name as his big brother, Hunter.

Ryder, who was born and raised in California, should do fine on his own, and will hopefully come visit his folks at their Florida place in Lake Worth Beach as much as possible. Or, at the very least, come hang with dad at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in February.
