Iconic ‘Boat House’ — designed by famous architect — lists in Florida. Take a look
An enchanting house designed by a famous Florida architect has landed on the real estate market in Palm Beach for a whopping $24.95 million.
Belford Shoumate, an architect born in Ohio in 1903, designed more than 500 buildings in a variety of styles in South Florida, including the iconic “Boat House,” built in 1940.
“Frank Lloyd Wright has Fallingwater, Belford Shoumate has The Boat House,” the listing on Sotheby’s International Realty says.
“A masterful landmark of Modernist architecture, the Boat House combines the very best elements of life in Palm Beach - the perfect spot on the lakefront with dock and boat-lift, deeded ocean access at the Mockingbird neighborhood beach cabana, and an incredibly elegant, exquisitely renovated, move-in ready home.”
The residence has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms and is almost 4,900 square feet and isn’t just pretty on the outside. It also has high-end features that include:
Rooftop deck
Swimming pool
Dock
Hardwood floors
Porthole windows
Outdoor infrared sauna
“The house received a full renovation a few years ago and the current owners then made meaningful improvements of their own,” a news release said.
“Those improvements include all new AC units including one for the garage, a high-end water filtration system, an oversized wine and beverage fridge, a smart home tech center and electric awning for the dining terrace.”
The listing is held by Lisa and John Cregan of Sotheby’s International Realty - Palm Beach Brokerage.
