Powerball player just misses $57 million jackpot — but still wins big prize in Florida
A Powerball player just missed the jackpot — but still scored a prize worth celebrating in Florida.
The lottery player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Powerball drawing Wednesday, June 19. Since the person spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option, their $50,000 prize tripled to $150,000, drawing results show.
The winning numbers: white balls 4-27-44-50-64, with red Powerball 7.
So, where was the winning ticket sold? It came from the Winn-Dixie grocery store on Harrison Street in Titusville, a roughly 40-mile drive east from Orlando, a Florida Lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News via email.
The ticket matched four white balls and the red ball to win big. But the player was one number from the larger jackpot prize, estimated at $57 million, according to the Powerball website.
Across the country, three other Powerball players won $150,000 prizes. And a player in New York scored $2 million, the largest prize won the night of the drawing, McClatchy News reported.
The Florida Lottery in its email didn’t say whether the Sunshine State’s winner had come forward. The state gives lucky ticket holders about six months to claim their prizes in drawing games.
