An alligator was up to some late night antics in a Southwest Florida residential neighborhood.

Bystander Kayla Ronquillo was driving home in the Babcock Ranch gated community in Punta Gorda around 11:30 p.m. Monday when she spotted the beast roaming the streets, she told Storyful, which posted her video.

She rolled down the window and whipped out her phone to capture the visitor strolling casually past someone’s garage, its eyes glowing. The gator then noisily whips around the corner and attempts, unsuccessfully, to scale the side of the home, banging into something loudly on its way down.

“Oh my gosh,” Ronquillo whispers off camera, then repeats: “Oh my gosh.”

Though this sight was likely terrifying, it’s not that unusual.

Alligators are quite nimble and have been known to climb not only walls but trees. Back in 2019, one even impressively cleared a fence at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville.
