It’s going to be a little noiser at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport for the next few weeks as fighter aircraft arrive and depart through June 14.
Among fighter jets taking part in training are F-21 Kfirs, built by Israel Aerospace Industries, and the Swiss Mk-58 Hawker Hunters.
The aircraft belong to Airborne Tactical Advantage Company, which is contracted by the military to engage in training missions.
Typical training include fighter intercepts, basic fighter maneuvers, offensive and defensive counter-air tactics and advanced electronic attack.
The airport and Dolphin/Hawthorne Aviation will be supporting ATAC during the training.
ATAC maintain a fleet of transonic (near the speed of sound) and supersonic aircraft to support the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, according to the company website.
“ATAC provides a wide range of contracted air support capabilities to the U.S. Department of Defense in locations world-wide, including the continental United States, Hawaii and the western Pacific,” the ATAC website said.
