A Florida mom was in the drop-off line when her baby stopped breathing. See the rescue
A school resource officer is being hailed as a hero after saving a baby’s life in Southwest Florida.
According to a Sunday Facebook post, a mom in the drop-off line at Three Oaks Elementary in Fort Myers on Sept. 9 realized her baby wasn’t breathing and panicked.
In video shared in the post, you can see the woman step out of her car in the rain, and hand her baby to a man in uniform who came running over.
“Check out the very moment SRO Deputy Bill Weaver performed CPR on a baby in the parent drop-off line,” reads the caption. “Deputy Weaver acted immediately and saved this baby’s life!”

Weaver reportedly “performed back thrusts and chest compressions” to revive the child.
Many commenters gave the law enforcement officer props, calling him a “hero.”
“His alert response, instinct and training experience led to a living miracle to save this life,” wrote one social media user. “Well done and thank God this baby is OK.”
Also in the comments section was a message of thanks from the grandmother of the rescued baby, Debbie Davis Cowley.
“Cheyenne is a preemie and has overcome many obstacles and I for one am very grateful he was there,” she wrote of the 5-month-old.
The little girl’s mom, Jennifer Howard, also chimed in on her own profile page, reposting the Lee County Sheriff’s Office video and giving her FB friends an update.
“It was so scary,” Howard wrote, saying that her daughter had apparently “choked on phlegm” and that her big sister Savannah, 7, who was also in the back seat, tried to help, too.
“Jennifer was dropping Savannah off at school when Savannah noticed her sister was not breathing,” Davis-Cowley told the Miami Herald. “She told her mommy and grabbed Cheyenne out of the car seat. My daughter immediately stopped the car and got out and yelled for help. That is when the SRO came over and assisted.”
Everyone in the family is A-OK now.
