A 21-year-old driver died after a loose pig ran onto a road, sending his pickup truck careening into trees, Florida news outlets reported.

The man was behind the wheel when he hit the pig, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office told WPEC. The crash reportedly sent the vehicle off the road before it slammed into a patch of trees on Sunday, Sept. 4.

The driver died at the scene of the crash. He was identified in news reports as Walter Vandiver.

The crash involving a Ford F-250 pickup truck happened at about 11:15 p.m. on Indiantown Road in the Jupiter area, roughly 85 miles north of Miami, according to WPTV.

Vandiver was wearing his seat belt, and officials didn’t find indications of alcohol or drug use, WPBF reported.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on Sept. 5.
