A baby was trapped in an overturned Jeep in Florida. A rescuer could do just one thing
A terrifying accident in northeastern Florida had a happy ending on Monday.
A dark-colored Jeep with four passengers, including a toddler, overturned on a road in Flagler Beach, according to a Facebook post from the fire department.
Several first responders and rescue vehicles descended on the area of the “severe crash.”
A heroic passerby also happened to be there. Musician Wisguere Dormevil told Fox 35 Orlando he was driving on the same road when the car flipped in front of him. The Palm Coast man called 911, then set out to help.
As people inside the car frantically yelled that a baby was trapped inside, Dormevil propped up the Jeep just enough for the occupants to slide the little boy to safety.
“The Jeep kinda lifted up,” he told the media outlet.
On his Facebook page, Dormevil shared a photo of the crumpled car amid the debris-filled chaos.
“This morning God put me in the right place at the right time,” said the caption. “I was able to help get this baby from under this Jeep. Car seat was crushed and the baby was stuck in between the car. We were able to push the car over just enough to pull the baby out ... hopefully everyone’s all right.”
According to the fire department, three adults and one “pediatric” were taken to nearby Halifax Medical Center. Their condition and what caused the wreck are unknown. The agency did not respond to the Miami Herald’s request for comment Wednesday.
