A Ruskin woman was thrown from her SUV after running into a hog on Buckeye Road in Palmetto, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release Friday.

At 3:45 a.m., the 43-year-old woman was driving west on Buckeye Road between Grass Farm Road and lost control of her SUV.

She drove off the road for a moment, then regained control and went back onto the road, where she hit a hog, FHP said.

Her SUV flipped over several times and came to a stop in a ditch on the north shoulder of Buckeye Road.

The woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt, FHP said, and she was thrown from the SUV.

She was found seriously injured in the eastbound lane, and an ambulance took her to a hospital.
