A Florida man felt the need for speed and ended up in jail Tuesday night.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, an officer was on the median of I-95 near Melbourne conducting “speed enforcement.”

At around 7:30 p.m., the trooper observed a black 2019 Honda Civic zipping in and out of traffic, attempting to overtake a car in the far left lane by driving on the shoulder.

“I see the vehicle kicking up debris from the shoulder and nearly colliding with a vehicle in the left lane,” read the report.

The driver, later identified as Angelo Donnelly, was clocked going 112 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The trooper gave chase, accelerating up to 125 mph before he was able to get Donnelly to pull over, says the report.

The 19-year-old was arrested and charged with reckless driving and given a citation for unlawful speed on the interstate, which carries a fine of $359.

While in the backseat of the patrol car, the Palm Bay resident said the reason for going so fast was he “was showing off for his girlfriend who was following behind in a separate vehicle.”

The girlfriend’s whereabouts are unknown.

Bond was set at $500.
