A sea turtle was rescued from a Florida bay, and it took four cops to haul it in

It took four grown strapping men to do it, but an injured sea turtle was successfully rescued from a bay in Florida.

According to a Facebook post from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, marine officers responded to a call about a reptile in distress in Estero Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, on Friday afternoon.

Video of the save shows the turtle floating on its side, struggling in the water near the officers’ boat. Four men grab at the shell and hoist the animal onto a small platform and crank it up.

The crews met with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers on the shore to assess the situation.

Sheriff’s spokesman Nestor Montoya says the rescue happened near the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs.

The big guy was transferred to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Sanibel for treatment. According to the clinic’s patient website, it was still at CROW as of Wednesday, but it’s unclear what caused the injuries.
