Florida mom went gambling at an arcade. Her newborn was in the car outside, cops say
A new Florida mom who tried her luck gambling ended up with an unfortunate outcome.
According to a post from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, Bionca Lockett left her baby in the car for almost two hours on Friday while she entered an arcade at a Sebastian strip mall.
Deputies found her 27-day-old infant in her running car, the doors unlocked. The baby was dehydrated, with chapped lips, dirty and appeared “malnourished.” A deputy had to go and buy formula to feed the child, said the agency.
It was determined Lockett had left the baby unattended in the busy plaza for approximately one hour and 45 minutes. She faces felony charges of child neglect. A judge ordered that the mother have no contact with the baby, who is with child services.
