Publix stores in Broward and near Tallahassee deliver big Florida Lottery wins on one day
A Tallahassee man has nearly 14 million reasons to embody the familiar Publix promo tag, “Where shopping is a pleasure.”
In the case of Yahudah Ysrayl, 62, that’s because on Thursday he claimed a $13.75 million Florida Lotto jackpot at the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee from a drawing held on Jan. 5.
He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $10,400,043.67, according to the Florida Lottery.
Ysrayl bought his ticket as a Quick Pick at the Publix at 5810 Seven Mile Dr. in Wildwood.
Much “pleasure” for the Florida-based supermarket chain, too. Publix pockets a bonus commission of $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Ysrayl is not the only recent big winner from a stop inside a Publix.
Broward winner
The Florida Lottery also announced on Thursday that Juliana Pavon of Weston claimed a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 LUCK Scratch-Off game at the Lottery’s Miami District Office. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $760,000.
Pavon purchased her winning ticket from Publix at 4567 Weston Rd. in Weston. The Broward Publix scores a $2,000 bonus from that win.
The next Florida Lotto drawing is at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. Not as big a bounty — just a $1.75 million jackpot. But that’d buy a lot of Pub Subs.
