‘Beyond horrific.’ Mom kills her 2 small kids, then herself at Florida home, cops say
A family tragedy this week has rattled the small, quiet community of Land O’Lakes, Florida.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to a home in the Lake Padgett area Wednesday evening after the father, whose name has not been released, came home and found his wife and two sons — a 9-month-old and 3-year-old — all dead.
PCSO Major Crimes Unit Sgt. Michael Rosa said at a news briefing Thursday that it appears the mother took the lives of her two children, then killed herself.
The manner in which they all died was with a legally owned gun that was in the home, Rosa said. He added that there was “a possible mental health illness involving the female.”
“People in relationships have arguments,” Sheriff Chris Nocco said during the livestreamed briefing. “Some people take it a little harder than others. Instead of reaching out and seeking help, people make horrific decisions and it looks like last night somebody made a decision that is beyond horrific.”
The father is cooperating with the investigation, authorities added.
