Snow in the Sunshine State? Check out this Florida deputy’s video of the rare flurries
A deputy with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office captured a rare snowfall on the Sunday night and early Monday shift in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as a winter storm made its way up the mid-Atlantic coast.
The deputy managed to capture flurries coming down in a Lowe’s parking lot under the light of a lamp post.
“Well how’s this for a temperature change?” says the caption along with a quick video. “From 75 degrees at 3 in the afternoon to snow at 3 a.m ... Bundle up out there.”
“It’s snowing. See?” the deputy says incredulously off camera as flakes fall on top of the patrol car and onto his jacket. “Snow!”
The Panhandle hasn’t seen snow since the white stuff came down in Tallahassee in January 2018.
Michele Nicholson, a spokeswoman for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, told The Associated Press the snow didn’t stick so it didn’t cause road, business or school closures or any major problems.
