“Below Deck: Mediterranean” fans finally have their answer about a popular cast member’s death in Fernandina Beach, Florida, in October.

Capt. Mark Howard, who helmed the Ionian Princess on Season 1 of the Bravo series, died of hypertensive cardiovascular disease, along with chronic alcoholism, E! News first reported on Tuesday.

Ater a months-long investigation, the medical examiner’s office determined the 65-year-old seaman’s cause was medical.

Local police reported that blood droplets were found on the floor and on the late man’s face “that appeared suspicious in nature.” His wife, who discovered his body at their home when she returned from a trip, also had blood on her pants.

Officials say Howard likely died days before his body was discovered. The investigation is closed.
