An Orlando tourist attraction is closed after a worker falls six stories to his death
A worker doing maintenance on the Orlando StarFlyer plunged to his death Monday morning, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
The attraction, which brags that its “The World’s Tallest Swing Ride,” will be closed during the investigation by the sheriff’s office and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety Health Administration.
The sheriff’s office said the 21-year-old man, whose name hasn’t been released yet, was climbing the towering ride along International Drive to do a safety check when he fell. Orange County Fire Rescue said the 911 caller said he’d fallen 50 to 60 feet to a raised platform.
OCSO said he died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
