Want to get married in style? A Lilly Pulitzer wedding room just opened at a courthouse
Sad that your big wedding was canceled due to coronavirus?
Here’s some bright news for brides to be, courtesy of Lilly Pulitzer.
The beloved Palm Beach designer known for using colorful pastels and flowers teamed up with the local clerk and comptroller’s office for something special in these uncertain times.
The result is a delightfully tropical marriage ceremony room at the main courthouse in downtown West Palm Beach that’s fit for a (preppy) fashion queen. We think the label’s eponymous founder, who died in 2013 at the age of 81, would approve.
“There’s nothing like it in the country,” Clerk and Comptroller Sharon R. Bock told the The Palm Beach Post. “We deal with lots of heavy things on a daily basis so this was a nice escape to give something back to the community.”
More than 70 couples (masked, until they kiss) have already tied the knot inside the Lilly Pulitzer “chapel” since Aug. 12, after opening amid the ongoing pandemic. The Lilly Pulitzer fashion house paid for the $20,000 makeover, Bock said.
Pictures on the courthouse site show the small space, festooned with signature LP palm trees, flowers, seashells and waterside views.
