The body of a Broward firefighter missing since Friday was found Tuesday afternoon near where he was last seen.

Deerfield Beach resident James Vonminden was 56 and a 29-year member of BSO Fire Rescue.

The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday afternoon that a man’s “decomposed” body had been found near the Jupiter intersection of Randolph Siding Road and Haynie Lane, which is about 350 yards from where Alexander Run crosses Randolph Siding Road. That’s where Vonminden was last seen Friday and about a mile and a half from where a relative of his lives.

While PBSO awaited an autopsy before releasing the identity of the body, Local 4321 of the International Association of Fire Fighters announced Vonminden’s death.

PBSO said as Vonminden’s death is being investigated, it’s “believed to be [a] suicide.”
