Watch an alligator take a casual Sunday stroll through a Florida Walmart parking lot

These days, due to COVID-19 reopening guidelines, you might expect to see long lines outside your local Walmart due to limited capacity and social distancing.

But probably not an alligator.

In Fort Myers Beach on Sunday, shoppers spotted a medium-sized gator roaming around the parking lot, Fox 4 first reported.

The TV station’s post shows the reptile meandering toward a crosswalk and some cars.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident to the Miami Herald.

“We responded to the Walmart on San Carlos Boulevard around 4:14 p.m. on June 7, in reference to an animal call,” a LCSO spokeswoman said. “Upon arrival, deputies located an alligator in the parking lot. FWC and an alligator trapper then responded and removed [it] from the area.”

An FWC spokesman says that the alligator was approximately five feet, five inches long and was hiding under a vehicle when the crew arrived.

A passerby snapped a picture of the unexpected visitor inside a shopping cart.

Maybe it was looking for hurricane supplies?
