A 52-year-old Boynton Beach resident told investigators his sex with a 17-year-old girl had been consensual, police say, and he admitted knowing her age.

Arold Jean knew the girl from being a friend of her father. He was helping them build furniture.

Jean is in Palm Beach County Jail after his Thursday booking on one count of sexual assault of a 12- to 17-year-old by an adult. The court set his bond at $100,000.

According to the arrest report, the girl told police Jean and her family were building furniture Saturday when they needed to make a Home Depot run for supplies. Jean suggested they swing by his new home “to inspect it.”

Once inside, the girl said, Jean “shut the door, pushed her on the bed, held her down as she attempted to fight her off.” He, then proceeded to vaginally rape her, she said.

The report said a sexual assault examination showed injuries “consistent with those described by” the girl.

Jean, the report said, didn’t wish to retain his right to remain silent Wednesday. He admitted having sex with the girl at his house on Saturday, “but advised it had been consensual.”
