‘She had enough of quarantine’: Watch a lost cow get a police escort in Palm Beach

It’s Earth Day, so expect to see more animals around on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, one cow looked to be prepping for the big day celebrating all things nature.

On Facebook, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office posted video of an, um, animal rescue of sorts.

In the agency’s clip, a small, brown cow is seen trotting along busy Military Trail near Lake Worth, with four police cruisers tagging behind, like cowboys leading the herd.

The cheeky caption from the sheriff’s office: “Holy cow! We don’t know if to charge Betsy with fleeing and eluding or if to let her go because she was following the social distancing guidelines.”

How did “Betsy’s” story end?

Deputies were able to get the bovine to “mooove over” and back to safety with the Animal Care and Control Center in West Palm Beach. The owner, a farmer, picked up the cow later in the day, the ACC told the Miami Herald.

Many commenters were appreciative of the light post, a break from all the tragic news surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, thanking the sheriff’s office for the laugh.

Others chimed in with jokes of their own.

“Wow, she even had a police escort.”

“Grill her!”

“Nice parade.”

“At least she isn’t speeding.”

“She’s keeping in her lane!”

“Smallest cattle drive ever!”

“Hope she doesn’t get a bum steer.”

“Did she get cited for a mooooving violation?

“Need more cowbell!”

“Udderly ridiculous!”

“Poor Betsy. She had enough of the quarantine.”
