‘If you ever show anyone...I will fight you.’ Teacher aide sent nude videos to kid, cops say.
A Titusville teacher aide’s romantic relationship with a former student got so out of hand that a special needs student ran away out of fear of being punished for having proof of it, and a mother says there’s a cover-up at the school to hide the photos and videos, police say.
Lindsey Thorson, 27, was arrested and charged Friday with transmitting information harmful to minors and tampering with physical evidence. She was released from jail Saturday on a $4,000 bond.
Thorson’s alleged inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student at Fieldston Preparatory School in Titusville surfaced when a special needs student ran away from home. When he was found, he told his mom that he was scared “of being punished for reporting a sexually explicit image that was sent to him from another student,” Titusville police said.
The student’s mother told police she thought staff members at the school were trying to cover up the sexual conversations between Thorson and the 16-year-old.
Thorson’s mother is the assistant principal at the preparatory school. Her mother is also the sister of the school’s principal, police said.
The conversation in question included photos and videos of Thorson naked and some of her pleasuring herself, police said. On several occasions the 16-year-old asked if they could have sex. Each time Thorson rebuffed his advances.
“Oh s--- you want to get me thrown in jail. Just kidding, lol,” she replied one time.
Thorson also warned the boy several times about sending pictures to anyone. “You better not ever send it to anyone,” she warned once.
Another time she said in messages, “You ever show anyone these I will fight you lol...Fight like full on fist throwing punches.”
When police spoke to the 16-year-old, he told them he was worried that Thorson would try to set him up to get him in trouble. So, he screen recorded all their conversations and sent them to the special needs student, so that if “he got in trouble he would have proof of the conversation.”
The boy told police he heard the boy he sent the video to was looking at it on the school bus and another teacher’s assistant took the phone and gave it to the principal, who had the boy delete it.
The 16-year-old told police he never had sex with Thorson and was never alone with her at school because he frequently was at work after classes.
“This case provides an important reminder that school officials, by law, are mandatory reporters of suspected abuse, regardless of whether they believe the allegations or not,” said lead Detective Jessica Cabrera in a statement.
A person who answered the phone at Fieldston Preparatory School Tuesday afternoon, who went by the name Mr. Johnson, said he would try to reach a contact person at the school for comment. He didn’t elaborate.
