Orlando-area massage therapist’s client says massage of her legs and butt went too far
An Orlando-area massage therapist can’t have female clients after a customer said he repeatedly touched her vagina during a session.
Consequences for Winter Park resident Alexander Hyman followed: removed from the schedule for Winter Springs’ Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa pending an investigation and an emergency restriction order from the Florida Department of Health. During the investigation, Hyman resigned from Hand and Stone, according to the order.
According to Orange County court records, no criminal charges have been filed yet.
According to the emergency order, Hyman had been treating the client, referred to as “T.P.,” for over a year when she went to Hand and Stone on June 1, 2019.
“T.P. told Mr. Hyman that she wanted a Swedish massage because she was in a lot of pain,” the order said. “While Mr. Hyman waited outside the room, T.P. disrobed entirely.”
As she lay face down and while massaging one of T.P.’s legs “he moved his hand higher toward T.P.’s inner thigh, making T.P. feel uncomfortable.” the order said. “Mr. Hyman touched T.P.’s vaginal area several times with his fingers while massaging her thighs and glutes.
“T.P. squirmed, hoping that Mr. Hyman would stop touching her vagina.”
After the turnover from stomach down to back down, “Mr. Hyman grabbed T.P.’s hips, placed his hand under the sheet and pressed on T.P.’s vaginal area ....T.P. raised her right leg and pushed his arm away.
“Mr. Hyman muttered ‘sorry’ while looking downward.”
Hyman tried to talk to T.P. for the rest of the massage. After, the receptionist “observed that T.P. appeared uneasy and in a state of shock ... the receptionist asked T.P. if she was okay and T.P. said, ‘No.’”
She told the receptionist that Hyman “touched her inappropriately during her massage.”
The receptionist told the manager. T.P. told her husband.
The result: Hyman’s license “is hereby immediately restricted to prohibit him from practicing massage therapy on female clients.”
