It was a ‘fun family’ outing at Total Wine. The problem was no one paid, cops say.
Right before New Year’s Eve, a party of five, including a young boy, walked into a Total Wine and More in Wellington. Instead of buying alcohol, they took a five-finger discount, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Surveillance video appears on the agency’s Facebook page with the caption, “This fun family came into the Total Wine in Wellington and helped themselves to seven bottles of Bourbon and a case of wine.”
You can see a woman enter the bourbon aisle and put something into her long dress; it’s unclear where the bottles were placed as the alleged shoplifter’s back is to the camera. The little boy flits by and others in her party congregate around her.
At the end of the short clip, a man in the party casually snatches the case as they all exit the sliding doors.
The footage was shot Dec. 28 and released on Thursday.
The suspects are still at large and the sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help.
“If you know this family, please let us know,” says PBSO.
Underneath the post, many commenters wrote in, shocked that the suspects would bring a small child with them.
“It’s so sad that they bring small children along and teach them to steal.”
“Wow. Unbelievable. Can’t believe that they did that with a kid with them as well.”
“Someday when they are visiting him in juvie they’ll be asking what they did wrong to make him turn out that way.”
