A middle school teacher brought his laptop in for repairs. A ‘Geek’ alerted the cops

Last summer, a Florida middle school science teacher brought his laptop into Best Buy for repairs.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, William Crawford would never get to use it again.

That’s because while the computer was being worked on, a Geek Squad member “observed images consistent with child pornography,” according to a police report. The images on the Toshiba Satellite included a “prepubescent female” showing her private parts.

On Aug. 19, a Pasco deputy obtained a search warrant for the computer seized by the sheriff’s department and investigators found more disturbing images, including an adult male engaging in sex acts with a prepubescent female, the complaint said.

“During the review of Crawford’s computer, it was discovered he was a teacher when detectives noticed there was a personal photo of the suspect in a polo from John Long Middle School,” a Pasco County sheriff’s spokesman told the Miami Herald.

The 69-year-old Wesley Chapel resident was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges of possession of child pornography.

After he was read his rights, Crawford admitted to having the images on his computer, according to the sheriff’s office.

He resigned from the school immediately and remains in custody.
