Art Basel banana, Part II? Someone is selling a chicken tender for $5,000 in Florida.
If a banana duct-taped to a wall at Art Basel Miami Beach fetched over 100 grand, then this “collectible” is a steal.
A Florida woman is selling a chicken tender shaped (kinda, sorta) like a manatee for $5,000.
Read that again (though some might not want to and that’s OK).
Before you say, “Aren’t all chicken tenders kind of shaped like manatees?” look closely.
This piece of golden fried protein, posted on the Facebook Marketplace page under “Antiques and Collectibles,” looks as if it has a set of eyes and two little flippers. Awww.
“Must see to appreciate,” reads the post.
The seller, Melinda Britt Disbrow, of Riverview in Hillsborough County, told Orlando Weekly that she was feeling peckish on Thursday and tucked into her local Culver’s fast food restaurant.
“I thought chicken tenders would hit the spot!” Disbrow told the publication. “I was thrilled to see my special tender as the last one remaining.”
Why she decided to charge $5,000 for it is unclear; an individual one at Culver’s would cost about $1.
Add duct tape, stick it on the wall, and then maybe we’re in business.
So, burning question: Why is the chicken tender listed in “new” condition?
“She’s still fresh,” Disbrow told the Miami Herald on Friday, adding that she hasn’t heard from many interested parties yet.
But someone did offer a trade: the prized tender for a meal at Chick-fil-A.
She is still pondering the deal.
