A home was being foreclosed. A nonprofit saved the ex-homeowner’s 200 dogs and cats.
A pet rescue group is pleading for donations after helping save 200 dogs and cats from an Orange County home.
According to a Facebook post, A New Beginning Pet Rescue and Florida Little Dog Rescue first responded Saturday to the foreclosed home. What they saw was shocking.
“It was horrifying to see how terrified these animals were and capturing them was terribly taxing both physically and mentally,” the post’s author wrote.
Photos of the dilapidated home show walls covered in what appears to be either mold or mildew, floors with missing tiles and rusted chairs.
The author went on to say that organizers spent the next two days getting all the animals out, which presented its own challenges.
“These are minimally socialized, scared animals,” the post continued. “The dogs don’t walk on leash. They pee and poop when frightened which is pretty much their state of being right now. Some will also bite out of fear.”
The pets will need to receive proper veterinary care before being put up for adoption. For more information on adoption or fostering, email sbigthumbs@aol.com.
While the organization says they have plenty of dog food, other supplies and vaccines are still needed. To donate, click here.
