Four Fort Pierce men were killed in a two-car crash involving a semi-truck Tuesday night, troopers said.

At 6 p.m., the four men — Juan Magana, Jose Magana, Jose Magana Guil and Jamie Magana — were driving on Interstate near Titusville in a Ram pickup truck that was hauling a trailer with an excavator.

Charlie Doles was driving a semi-truck hauling cars just behind them when the left rear axle of the trailer the pickup was hauling lodged itself under the semi, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Doles lost control of his semi and hit the pickup. Both vehicles skid off the roadway, going into the shoulder.

The pickup overturned, ejecting two of the men inside, while the semi jackknifed, meaning its trailer came out from behind it. The pickup finally stopped underneath the semi.

Doles was not injured in the crash, FHP said.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
