Five dead after plane crashes into Lake Okeechobee, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office says

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims of Friday’s plane crash, according to reports.

The victims are: Eduardo Mulet, 45, of West Palm Beach; Eric Peterson, 73, of Lighthouse Point; Matthew Fiorello, 36, of Palm Beach Gardens; Heather Bridwell, 43, of Jupiter; and Edwin Mortell III, 54, of Stuart.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Peterson, Fiorello, Bridwell and Mortell worked as attorneys at Peterson Bernard, a law firm with offices in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Stuart, according to the firm’s website. Mulet was a commercial pilot.

The partners were returning from Tampa, where they visited to meet with new clients, reports the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The five people were found dead inside an airplane that crashed into Lake Okeechobee Friday afternoon.

PBSO said the bodies were in the plane’s fuselage. The twin-engine Piper PA-23-250 airplane had come from Tampa International Airport and was on approach to Pahokee Airport, also known as Palm Beach County Glades Airport, according to the FAA.

The crash will be investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
