You never know what you’re going to encounter when you take a ride on a see-through canoe.
The See Through Canoe Company, out of Seminole, Florida, near St. Petersburg, in Pinellas County, was out on a pleasure ride on Wednesday and came upon a large alligator. Literally.

A passenger posted a video on Instagram of the gator, which seems to be just relaxing underneath the craft, seemingly unafraid and in no rush to go anywhere.
The caption: “That moment when you realize your canoe is stuck on an alligator’s back.”
By Friday, the post had received more than 4,000 views.
Most commenters were surprised by the sight: “Look how relaxed he is! He was just enjoying a little back rub!” wrote one.
Another chimed in: “I would have been shaking so bad. Pretty cool footage though!”
Another commenter perhaps summed up the experience best: “Oh hell no.”
The reptile stayed under the watercraft for roughly a minute.
“There really wasn’t time to do anything but hold on when this gator rose up from the muddy water below and bumped the See Through Canoe,” said the original Instagram poster about the run-in. “He stayed there for what seemed like forever, with the canoe sort of stuck on his back. When the gator finally backed up and submerged, the canoe moved with him for a few feet before he went down.”
