Tallahassee and Leon County cops had been looking for Florida State student Justin Dean Shields, a Coral Reef High School graduate.

Justin Dean Shields, a 19-year-old Florida State University student from Miami-Dade County who cops say hasn’t been seen by friends or family since Wednesday, was found Sunday afternoon.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office said search dogs took officers from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida State police and LCSO to an area miles off Old Magnolia Road. Shields was dehydrated, but taken to a hospital to get fluids.

The agency appealed to the public Saturday for help in a search that had been going on since Shields’ white 2016 Ford Fusion was found Friday. Still in the car, which the sheriff’s office said was on Old Magnolia Road about a mile north of Rococo Road, were Shields’ cellphone and wallet.

As for Shields, a graduate of Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami-Dade, investigators say someone fitting his 6-foot, 180-pound description was seen walking on Old Magnolia around 7 a.m. Friday. The agency’s K9 units, dive teams and aviation teams began combing the rural area Saturday. Volunteers joined deputies in the search Sunday.
