A Florida man tried to grab and walk off with a 5-year-old boy late Wednesday night, cops say, telling his mother repeatedly, "I want your son."

Aung Pyo of DeLand didn't get the boy. Instead, the 26-year-old was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office on charges of child abuse, kidnapping of a victim under the age of 13 and burglary of an occupied dwelling. The sheriff's office said he "appeared to be intoxicated."

According to records, Pyo has lived in an apartment building next door to the boy's family's apartment for just over a year. The mother told deputies they have lived at the complex for two years and haven't had anything to do with Pyo previously.

That ended Wednesday night as the 5-year-old boy walked from his apartment to a picnic table. The mother said Pyo took him by an arm and started to walk away with him.

As one of the boy's uncles and the mother's boyfriend stepped in, Pyo kept saying, "I want your son."

Removing the boy from the scene to the apartment building didn't dissuade Pyo. He kept trying to get himself inside and to get the boy to come outside.

On Monday the sheriff's office says it dealt with another walk-up snatching attempt. Witnesses told deputies that Port Orange resident Sarah Freeman tried to take a 7-year-old away from her pregnant mother and a 5-year-old from his father at a beach area. Freeman is in Indian Lake Jail on charges of kidnapping, battery, aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and car burglary.
