Using a canoe and pure strength, two men from a wildlife rescue group pulled a deer to safety from a pond in a Sarasota-area country club.
Their rescue efforts were caught on camera and shared by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said it received reports Sunday that there were two deer struggling to stay afloat in a pond at Laurel Oak Country Club.

Deputies called the Wildlife, Inc. Education & Rehabilitation Center, based in nearby Bradenton Beach, to help in the rescue.
One of the deer did not survive. The other, a full-grown adult male, was helped out of the water and onto the bank.
