Episode 3: The anguish of Surfside families during a desperate search for survivors
Episode 3: Inside the Room — Collapse: Disaster in Surfside
“I am one of the people that’s out there attempting to find your family members.”
That’s what a member of Miami-Dade County’s Fire-Rescue squad told anguished family members after Champlain Towers South collapsed last summer. They were gathered in a room at the Grand Beach Hotel, just a few blocks north of where the 12-story condo had suddenly collapsed.
Episode 3: Inside the Room of Collapse: Disaster in Surfside, a new podcast from the Miami Herald/Treefort Media, features never-before-heard audio as the county’s search-and-rescue team tried to comfort and update people desperate to learn if their loved ones were safe.
