Metal in meatballs? What to know about a recall hitting Aldi stores nationwide

A consumer complaint about metal in meatballs caused Sunday’s not-food-in-your-food recall of meatballs from Aldi stores nationwide.

Rosina Food Products, based in the Buffalo suburb of West Seneca, pulled about 9,462 pounds — about 4,731 32-ounce bags — of Bremer’s Italian Style Meatballs with a best by date of 10/30/26 and timestamps between 17:08 and 18:20 printed on the back of the bags.

The USDA-Food Safety and Inspection Service recall announcement said, “The problem was discovered after FSIS received a consumer complaint regarding metal fragments found within the product.”

Anyone with these recalled meatballs should return them to the Aldi of purchase for a refund. Or, at least, throw them in the garbage.
