Supplement sold by Walmart and Amazon recalled after 2 E. coli strains found

A dietary supplement sold online by Amazon and Walmart has been recalled after the manufacturer found two strains of E. coli in the product.

In its FDA-posted notice, Purity Products blamed the recall of MyBladder, lot No. 030425176 in 60-count bottles, on “a temporary change in suppliers.”

Neither the E. coli O7:K1 (IAI39/ExPEC) nor E. coli 1303 that Purity said it found in MyBladder are the Shiga-toxin variety, which is the deadly form of E. coli. According to the CDC, these forms are more likely to produce “watery diarrhea, sometimes low fever, sometimes vomiting,” and the diarrhea might last longer than two weeks.

The bladder control supplement should be returned to the store of purchase for a refund.

Any questions about this recall should be directed to Purity Products’ Richard Conant by calling 516-316-9486 or emailing richard.conant@purityproducts.com.
