Walmart recalls 51,000 electric food choppers after they leave some users in stitches

Electric food choppers that start up on their own can seem like a horror movie appliance, but the horror of sliced body parts caused Walmart to recall 51,750 Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers.

“The chopper’s blade can operate unexpectedly during assembly or when not enclosed in the container, posing a laceration hazard to consumers,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice explained.

And, Walmart knows about this causing at least five lacerations, “two of which required medical attention, including stitches.” The cuts happened while customers were putting the food chopper together or cleaning it.
