Trader Joe’s nuts have been recalled in 16 states. FDA testing found salmonella
Four lots of 1-pound bags of nuts sold under Trader Joe’s store brand have been recalled in 16 states after FDA testing found salmonella in “at least one of the recalled lots,” the recall notice said.
The notice, posted on the FDA site, comes from California’s Wenders LLC, which made Trader Joe’s 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews for the grocery chain.
Recalled lot Nos. are: T12139, best by Feb. 21, 2025; T12140, best by March 1, 2025; T12141, best by March 8, 2025; and T12142, best by March 10, 2025. They went to California, Texas, Washington, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Utah.
Salmonella infects about 1.3 million people in the United States each year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While more than 26,000 wind up hospitalized and over 400 die, the vast majority of people suffer diarrhea, stomach aches and fever for four to seven days.
